The election commission that took note of the allegation has now sent notices to both parties to adhere to the interim order passed by the full bench of the election commission that had made a decision to freeze the "two leaves" symbol after both factions staked claim to it.
RK Nagar bypolls, represented by the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa whose death has prompted the bypoll, is supposedly facing multi-cornered contest, though the major battle is between the two warring factions of the AIADMK.
The Sasikala camp requested the name "AIADMK (Amma)" and the "Hat" as its election symbol, while the Panneerselvam group requested "AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma -PTA) and the "Electric Pole" as its symbol".
Pre-poll estimates may have given Panneerselvam faction an edge, but its candidate Madhusudhanan would not like to take it easy.
They claimed, it was done as Panneerselvam had gained more popularity among AIADMK cadres and the electorate, compared to the rival AIADMK party leader and its Deputy General Secretary T T V Dinakaran.
"AIADMK's Amma has continued to use symbol "Two Leaves" in its official website and in other party papers", the statement pointed out. This freaky scene was witnessed in RK Nagar's Korukupet area ahead of the by-election in the constituency on April 12.
"There's rampant buying of votes by Sasikala camp to somehow win or to get polls postponed as they can't win", said Saravanan. The other faction named All India Anna Dravid Munnetra Khazagam - AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma), was allotted the symbol "Electric Pole". And since we are the ruling party, the EC is looking into the complaints.
