Instant Replay: Nationals 6, Phillies 4

"We made mistakes and it cost us and then Bryce erased them", Dusty Baker told reporters after Harper hit a two-out, three-run home run 422 ft to center off of Phillies' closer Joaquin Benoit to beat the Nationals' NL East rivals. Mancini went 3 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Harper's walk-off victor in the nation's capital let the Nationals off the hook after they blew a 3-1 lead by giving up two in the eighth and one in the ninth, quickly turning a 3-1 lead into a 4-3 deficit. He has four home runs this season and is hitting.333 with a.455 on-base percentage. The streak ended when Daniel Murphy singled with two outs in the seventh. Harper fouled off the first two pitches and fell into an 0-2 hole. His second hit of the game scored pinch-hitter Chris Heisey, who had walked and reached second on a passed ball.

Kelvin Herrera (1-0) threw an eight-pitch flawless ninth after Ian Kennedy pitched two-hit ball and struck out 10 over eight innings. Parker (0-1) absorbed the loss.

The Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a two-out RBI single by Cesar Hernandez off Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg.

PIRATES 6, CUBS 1 Adam Frazier hit a home run and Pittsburgh scored six runs in the final two innings to complete a three-game sweep of the World Series champions. Harper hit two homers on the day. "It was 3-1 most of the game and not a whole lot was going on".

The Nationals have now won 16 of the last 23 games against the Phillies. The Indians have lost seven of nine after an opening three-game sweep of Texas.

Bullpen report Joely Rodriguez and Pat Neshek pitched scoreless ball before Benoit blew up. Treinen's struggles continued, and he gave up a run before getting pulled in favor of Shawn Kelley.

Ryan Schimpf's homer in the third inning was the only misstep by Colon, who walked one and struck out six while pitching in the 44th ballpark of his 20-year major league career. It was the second homer in as many at-bats for Hernandez, who hit a homer in the eighth inning Saturday and then led off a game with a homer for the second time this season Sunday.

MIAMI - Pinch hitter J.T. Riddle hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to lead Miami over NY. Left-hander Brandon Finnegan came out of the game after the first inning because of a strained muscle in the back of his left side. They open a three-game series in NY against the Mets on Tuesday night. The RBI single by Anthony Rendon made up the fourth hit of the day.

Charlie Blackmon led off the game with a homer, and Nolan Arenado celebrated his 26th birthday with a two-run double to cap a three-run first as the Rockies took three of four in the series. "It's come down to the last at-bat four of the six games we've played them".

Wily Peralta improved to 3-0 and Neftali Perez earned his fourth save. Neftali Feliz struck out two in a flawless ninth for his fourth save.

McCutchen's run-scoring grounder brought home pinch runner Alen Hanson in a three-run eighth as the Pirates (6-6) completed their first three-game sweep of the Cubs since September 5-7, 2014.

Benoit had faced Harper five times and beaten him five times, including twice earlier this season.

OAKLAND - Sunday's game between the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics was postponed due to rain, marking Oakland's first home rainout in three years. Julio Teheran has been absolutely lights out for Atlanta through two starts. It wasn't immediately rescheduled. That takes us from the -240 range to -105, which is much more palatable on the bankroll in case the Dodgers do in fact lose. A contest on April 1 was rained out and another was postponed three days later due to unplayable conditions when the grounds crew neglected to put the tarp on the field.
