"So, you can count on us to follow it", the Google executive said. "You can count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now", Osterloh said. Although he did not confirm a specific launch date for the next Pixel smartphone, Osterloh told BGR India that Google will continue to follow the yearly flagship launch timeframe.
The current Google Pixel was launch in October previous year, so we probably won't see the next Pixel anytime soon. But the Pixel phones were the epitome of what a real Android smartphone should be as Google designed it from scratch, added high-quality camera, and ensured it is of premium quality. The report quoted the head of hardware at Google, Rick Osterloh. Evan Blass made a post on Twitter, sharing that Google will release the tablet before the end of 2016, but that didn't happen.
The Google Pixel is expected to release its sequel this year sometime, even the company may or may not be announcing it. As the replacement for the Nexus phones, the Pixel devices better be worth all the hassle and yes, the high cost.
Sadly, Rick Osterloh didn't disclose the device's exact release. So if someone wants greater battery life they should go for the Google Pixel XL, otherwise, the Google Pixel is one of the best option. Will customers be willing to buy the Pixel 1 if the next generation smartphone of the series, the Pixel 2, is available?
Google Pixel might be getting some iteration. The Pixel phones met with nearly universal critical acclaim, with the Pixel phones matching the iPhone both spec-wise and in other hardware features such as the camera, build quality, screen etc. With Google Assistant on iPhones, it will be interesting to see who garners more popularity amongst iOS users.
Despite the latest update, Google is set to feature renewed smartphone competition in the coming weeks, with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 both set to launch in the not too distant future. They no longer have exclusivity for GA, so now we're wondering what Google can do to top the features on the original Pixel.
