Fear of snowstorms hits New York, UN

Tractor trailers were banned Tuesday morning on the state Thruway and some other major highways as a major snow storm severely limited travel.

The Cuomo plan "rectifies in a fair and equitable fashion the disadvantage NY businesses now confront", the council added.

In a recent article, the New York Times took to the streets of Central Brooklyn to gauge thoughts held by residents on Governor Cuomo's investment plan.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency Tuesday for all of New York's 62 counties, including New York City's five boroughs.

Again, although we have resources all across the state, the way the weather pattern is actually shaping up the storm has moved more westward. Cuomo says service on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North commuter lines could also be "significantly impacted".

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned some 50 million people from Pennsylvania to ME of a "rapidly intensifying nor'easter" that was unusual for so late in the winter.

A nor'easter is poised to bring blizzard conditions and a blanket of heavy snow to the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

The Mayor also warned that New Yorkers should exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel and pay close attention to winter storm advisories.

The storm's shift didn't spare upstate areas, however, and by mid-afternoon 22 inches had fallen in the Binghamton area, while parts of the Hudson Valley had received up to 20 inches.

At LaGuardia and JFK airports, most of the flights were cancelled.
