Barcelona, Real Madrid to play Miami 'Clasico'

Arguably the greatest rivalry in the world's most popular sport is coming to South Florida with a pair of rosters that reads like a Who's Who of soccer - Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, to name a few.

Spanish arch-rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona will meet in a pre-season friendly in Miami on July 29 in the first "Clasico" to take place outside Spain for 35 years. A Friday press conference on Miami Beach will announce the game and events surrounding it.

Tickets will go on sale on the ICC's website on March 20, three days after an exclusive presale.

"I think today we are writing a crucial chapter in football history in the United States as this match will be a big opportunity to promote the game in this country", Barca marketing director Manel Arroyo said in a statement. The game resulted in a 1-0 win for Real, courtesy of a goal from former manager Vicente del Bosque.

And Sports Illustrated report that the deal has been agreed and will be announced in the coming hours. Ross and Dolphins executives attended a breakfast meeting in Madrid with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and other club executives December 2 to hammer out the details. "There is a huge soccer fan base here, it is easy to get here for fans in Latin America and Europe, and our players like to visit here".
