And Noel himself said: "GBBO is one of my favourite shows".
One Twitter user described the appointment as "just as bad as going from Obama to Trump". They take over from previous presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkin who refused to jump ship after Channel 4 outbid the BBC to clinch the show past year.
Paul Hollywood, well, you already know the deal with him.
Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Friday, he said: "Noel Fielding is very amusing and it's what new bakers need in the tent". "It's basically the double ". "I am so delighted to be working with Love Productions and Channel 4 on this best of British show".
Ever since Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins announced they were leaving the Great British Bake Off - we've been desperate to find out who will be replacing them.
One wrote: "Love Boosh, but bake off he aint!" Sandi and Noel bring a fresh wit and quirkiness to the tent.
How Fielding's oddball sense of humor will work on a show like Bake Off remains to be seen, but Toksvig, at least, thinks the partnership is promising. Prue is a hugely respected culinary legend and Sandi and Noel are warm and utterly hilarious.
But, as last year's contestant Selasi Gbormittah said on Good Morning Britain, we should all be willing to give the new line-up a chance. "I can not wait to get back in the tent with the bakers", he said.
Reports have speculated Mrs Leith had been offered at least £200,000 for the role, dwarfing the £70,000 Miss Berry was paid when the BBC broadcast the show.
She was referencing the now-ex Top Gear presenter's failed attempt after his predecessors Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left the motoring show. And you've got Sandi who is of course Danish, so she will be good with her pastries.
Expressing her excitement about Prue taking over, Jane said: 'Prue's brilliant, I'm old enough to have known of Prue for years and years and years.
"I'm very excited about it", he continued, adding that Fielding and Toksvig would "ace" the job.
