Arkansas Ready To Challenge North Carolina For Spot In Sweet 16

Arkansas wants to wear out opponents. Moses Kingsley is their rock in the frontcourt and will need to come up big against North Carolina's big front line.

Tipoff for Arkansas vs. UNC on Sunday will be determined at the conclusion of the second round games on Friday night.

The Razorbacks start three 6-3 guards, Jaylen Barford, Dusty Hannahs and Manny Watkins and usually still play with three guards while bringing Daryl Macon, 6-3, and Anton Beard, 6-0, off the bench.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (KFSM)-Arkansas and North Carolina are no strangers to one another in the NCAA tournament. That included his layup off Khadeen Carrington's turnover at the other end, pushing Arkansas ahead for good as the Razorbacks scored the game's final seven points.

"The fact Arkansas is paired with North Carolina again is just a sheer coincidence", said Worlock, a Henderson State graduate and former Reddies sports information director.

"I think he's extremely important to them and he fits into that constant motion of harassment, havoc kind of mentality that Mike tries to push". We had a chance to play for some championships, too. So we're ready to go.

"At this time of year, there's such a value that you have to have for the basketball and for possessions", Aston said. "We've got to to get much, much better at it". Their offensive rebound rate is 42.2 percent; they're giving themselves second chances on almost half their misses, and that puts enormous strain on defenses.

"We had a chance to tie or something and they went on a run and ended up winning by double figures".

The only concern was junior point guard Joel Berry II making just 1-of-8 shots from the field, and rolling his right ankle. Berry returned to the action briefly.

"He looks more like a sprinter, but I happen to think he's a marathon guy that has stuck to his philosophy, stuck to what he believes in", Williams said.

"I'm feeling pretty good", Berry toldUSA Today. ACC Player of the Year Justin Jackson broke out of his four-game shooting slump, scoring a game-high 21 points and converting 5-of-8 attempts from 3-point range. With five 3s in the Texas Southern game, he has 95 this season. The last time Arkansas went to the tournament and lost to UNC, quite frankly didn't surprise anyone. He was followed by Jay Shadday, Jared Datoc and Zac Ryan who combined for no runs to shutout the Tar Heels through the late innings.

Berry said Saturday his ankle felt better. Coach Roy Williams said he is "hopeful" the guard will return and he could have a big impact on the game. "It was tiring, but that's what it is supposed to be like".

"One thing with us is we are a really confident team", Watkins said.

SC beat Marquette 93-73 on Friday night for the Gamecocks' first NCAA Tournament victory since 1973 when they beat Texas Tech 78-70.

"We have to do a collective job because they have size", Kingsley said.
