Standing toe to toe with the boxing like kangaroo, the pet owner, yet to be identified punches the kangaroo, leaving the animal off kilter. Stunned, the roo stops in its tracks, before fleeing the scene.
The incredible clip - which has gone viral after being shared millions of times online - captures the hilarious fistfight between man and beast. A spokesperson for Taronga Western Plains Zoo, where Tonkins works, told news.com.au in a statement that the zoo is looking into Tonkins' actions.
The trip occurred in June and was for Tonkins' friend, 19-year-old Kailem, who passed away last Thursday after battling Ewing Sarcoma.
"It was amusing because [Mr Tonkins] is the most placid bloke. We laughed at him for chucking such a s-- punch".
"His hand was OK, he didn't hit it very hard at all", Amor said.
Tonkin attended the hunting trip to help his cancer-striken friend Kailem Barwick catch a "tonner" - a wild boar that generally weighs more than 100 kilograms.
He went on to explain the entire outing came to be when a teen with a rare bone cancer wanted to catch a 220-pound wild boar with his dogs as a final wish. Although upon closer inspection and in my opinion it looked like the roo was trying to mate with the dog!
The man, identified only as "Goo", became concerned when the kangaroo trapped his hunting dog in a headlock.
However, according to Amor, good ol' Greig is mostly harmless.
Goo stepped in to the dust up, and unbeknownst to him, straight into enduring infamy of the internet.
