No WiFi? No Problem - Netflix Now Lets Users Download

In order to use the new service, Netflix users should make sure they have the most current version of the app on their device.

"You can understand why they wouldn't want to do it because it opens up a whole pot of rights issues".

Users can choose two different quality options - standard, which is a lower resolution that requires less storage space and downloads faster, and higher, which takes up more space on the device and will take longer to download.

Netflix has begun rolling out the ability to download videos from its streaming service to smartphones and tablets for offline viewing.

But the company said the offering does include many member "favorites".

The feature, which will be offered as a alternative to streaming content using an internet connection, comes at no extra cost.

At this point, only certain shows and films are available to download, with a new "Available to download" section containing the relevant content.

The latest versions of the company's mobile apps include a "download" button on the details page for a film or TV series - although not all titles on the streaming service are now available to watch offline.

The new feature is free and available on all plans.

Netflix has been signalling it would add a downloading option in recent months, as a way to continue increasing its subscriber base and match video-streaming Amazon.com. But hits like Narcos and The Crown, as well as Orange is the New Black, can be downloaded.

It's quite simple really, you go to the "Details" page on the series or movie you want to download and click on the download icon.
