The third Netflix original series based on a Marvel superhero, Luke Cage, was released this past September. Given the massive amount of projects Marvel is working on, it's unclear how long we will have to wait for season two of Luke Cage. The announcement was made Sunday in a video posted on Twitter. In this case, it's a slow push-in on Pop's Barber Shop, a key location in the first season; and the reveal of a neon sign that says "Season 2 Coming Soon".
"Luke Cage", which stars Mike Colter as the title character, joins its Netflix/Marvel cohorts "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" in being renewed for second seasons ("Daredevil" has already aired Season 2 and been picked up for a third outing). But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city-forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury. The fourth show in the service's Marvel portfolio, "Iron Fist", premieres in March, and at some point all four lead characters will come together for a "Defenders" miniseries.
No official date has been confirmed for Luke Cage's second season, but it's likely to be some time in 2018.
There's plenty of material to mine for Luke Cage Season 2, assuming The Defenders doesn't catch us up with Alfre Woodard's Mariah Dillard or Eric LaRay Harvey's Diamondback, who himself was last seen flirting with a similar skin treatment to his half-brother.
