He noted that the United States keeps reneging on its obligations under the nuclear agreement and called on the European Union foreign policy chief to make necessary preparations for the JCPOA joint commission meeting.

Reports from Tehran say Iran has requested a meeting of a commission that oversees the implementation of its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers in response to Tehran's claims that the United States has violated the agreement.

The top Iranian diplomat also asked Mogherini to inform the whole parties to the JCPOA about recurring breach of the deal by the United States, make preparations for a JCPOA joint commission meeting, and convene a taskforce in the commission working exclusively on the sanctions. The White House said Thursday that the legislation would become law without President Obama's signature.

President Hassan Rouhani had already warned that implementation of ISA will constitute a "clear and flagrant violation of the JCPOA" and draw a "very harsh reaction" from Tehran.

The Iranian president also ordered the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) to plan work on nuclear propulsion devices to be used in sea transport in response to the recent USA violation of the JCPOA.

Iran has been frustrated by the limited economic benefits of the accord, which removed many worldwide sanctions in exchange for curbs to its nuclear program.
