Derek Carr was wearing a microphone during the Raiders' Week 16 win over the Colts when the Pro Bowl quarterback suffered a fractured right fibula.
It's also a story that becomes even more heartbreaking when you see Carr's reaction the moment it happens.
Carr, who is out indefinitely, took to Twitter in a hopeful mood.
Practically immediately after going down with a sack Carr declared definitively "it's broke, it's broke" regarding his right leg, and of course he ended up being right on. Carr was lost to a season-ending leg injury last weekend, but he has Newton's vote, especially after he threw for 315 yards and two scores to beat Carolina in Week 12. He's rejuvenated the career of wide receiver Michael Crabtree, and led the Raiders to their first playoff berth since 2002. According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Raiders have not ruled out the possibility of Carr returning in "some capacity" should the team reach the Super Bowl.
Oakland has a lot to be proud of this season.
Earlier in the week Derek Carr tweeted that his surgery "couldn't have gone better".
