Nerlens Noel To Undergo Minor Surgery On Left Knee

The injury gets a little murkier when considering that Noel is clearly dissatisfied with his situation in Philadelphia, as well as the team's own displeasure with his grievances.

Already doubtful to begin the season with a groin strain, 76ers forward Nerlens Noel has elected to undergo surgery on his ailing left knee, the team announced Friday.

Nerlens Noel's absence from the 76ers takes another odd turn, as the team released a press report this evening stating that Noel would be getting a "minor surgical procedure".

As the 76ers are in Miami to wrap up their preseason schedule tonight against the Heat, head coach Brett Brown provided the first bit of reassurance that Simmons would return to the lineup this year. This follows the team saying that there was no timetable for Simmons.

Also Friday, the Sixers said that guard Jerryd Bayless has chosen to pursue a "non-surgical option" to address the nagging left wrist injury that prevented him from participating in any preseason games. "There are so much speculation and dates as a coach you sort of want to hear what you want to hear at a time".

"I did mention a January hopeful return, and that was premature". After consulting with multiple specialists, the source of the soreness was identified as inflamed plica.

The team went back to that, and according to Keith Pompey's Twitter timeline, Brown was talking more in hypotheticals.

So, if you're losing track, the Sixers will first re-evaluate Bayless in 2 weeks, and then Noel will likely return 2-4 weeks after that.
