Mesut Ozil is at the peak of his powers at the moment, scoring goals for fun and pulling the strings for an Arsenal team who are in fine form.
"It states he will now wear the number 10 instead of 11". What is more surprising are the terms that Ozil is apparently requesting to be inserted into his new deal.
The details of the length of the contract are yet to be revealed.
That jersey was previously belonging to Jack Wilshere but the Englishman completed a loan move to Bournemouth last summer, leaving Arsenal's number 10 jersey with no owner.
Few Arsenal fans would begrudge Ozil such demands given his importance to the club, and they will hope that Arsenal announce their star player has been signed to new terms soon.
But, Bild has also made a revelation that, as a part of the new deal, Arsenal have also agreed to hand over the number 10 jersey to the German worldwide, who will, in turn, vacate the number 11 jersey.
Ozil now earns just under £140,000 a week, but will see his wage increase to just under £200,000.
If talks go according to plan, the German is expected to sign a new contract worth £200,000 per week, which would make him Arsenal's highest paid player ever. However, unlike Ozil, Sanchez is looking for a release clause in any new contract that would allow him to leave the Emirates for a set transfer fee.
