At least, three Colorado Sports Authority stores are among 140 the company is planning to close nationwide, an official with Sports Authority confirmed on Wednesday.
Sports Authority plans to close its flagship store at the Sports Castle at 1000 Broadway as part, according to a report.
The 100,000-square-foot, seven-story Sports Castle is owned by Gart Properties.
A website for the company's S.A. Elite store in Boulder today said: "Hurry in and save. We are closing" as of February 27.
Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Sports Authority Inc. was preparing to file for bankruptcy as it faced a debt payment. It closed a store in McKinney at 3190 S. Central Expressway on Christmas Eve.
Sports Authority took a gamble several years ago, paying $60 million for the naming rights to the stadium that's home to the Superbowl Champion Denver Broncos.
