Potter actors join tribute to Alan Rickman

Unfortunately, after a battle with cancer, Alan Rickman has joined the list of talented actors and musicians who have left this world entirely too soon.

"Harry Potter" and "Die Hard" actor Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69, his rep confirmed to ABC News.

Since he played in many movies ranging from different genres (from the sci-fi adventure Galaxy Quest to the dramatic horror musical Sweeney Todd), Rickman will likely be remembered by a variety of generations, and rightfully so.

He died from cancer, surrounded by family and friends, it was announced yesterday.

Thank you for all the phenomenal characters you have brought to life, good sir. It was taken, if I'm not mistaken, while rehearsing a scene where Alan clipped me and Rupert round the back of a head with a book.

Radcliffe called him "undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with", while Watson said she felt lucky to have worked and spent time with him. As I walked through the canteen I thought of Alan queuing up for his lunch with us mere mortals.

Harry Potter cast members Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson also both remembered Alan in touching tributes.

The video starts off with a shot of a auto driving across Blackfriars Bridge in London before we see Alan and lead singer Sharleen Spiteri sitting in the backseat.

Rickman has been the recipient of several professional awards including a Golden Globe for best actor in a miniseries or television film for the title role in "Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny". I trusted him absolutely.

They were 12. I have also recently returned from NY, and while I was there, I saw Daniel singing and dancing (brilliantly) on Broadway.

A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes.

"As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on "Potter" to treat me like a peer rather than a child".

It is an ancient need to be told in stories.
