MRI reveals Tom Brady suffered ankle sprain in Patriots' loss

This news will allow New England Patriots fans to exhale.

-PASSING OFENSE: D. New England's suspect game plan in South Florida didn't really call for a passing game. Brady didn't miss a snap after hobbling off the field and getting his ankle taped, but after the game he admitted that he was in pain, although he seemed irritated with the play. The one-time odds-on favorite for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, backed into the No. 2 seed. Before the game, Brady posed for photos alongside Pro Football Hall of Famers Dan Marino and Bob Griese.

As for Patriots coach Bill Belichick's reaction: "What are you talking about?" We're going to have to play a great game of football whoever we play. I hate that "no injuries" becomes a positive as opposed to a regular occurrence, but that's just the realty for this team in 2015.

"Honestly, at this point, I don't even care (who we play)", said Branch, "Because if we don't play good ball, it doesn't matter who we play, because we're not going to get anything done".

Brady huddles during the first quarter with Patriots running back Brandon Bolden. Does this defense have the clutch end-of-game stops in them that last year's defense had against the Ravens (Harmon interception) and Seahawks (you know the one)?

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter that is once again the case as the Dolphins have reportedly requested permission to interview New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia for the Miami head coaching vacancy. And I say that with all sincerity.

Tom Brady's injury sustained against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17 doesn't appear to be too serious. New England has a first-round bye, so Brady will have two weeks to recover before playing the victor of the Kansas City Chiefs - Houston Texans Wild Card matchup. I mean that's just as Jets as it gets - Rex Ryan is once again responsible for the Jets being at home in January.

It's timely to ask because the Patriots have lost two in a row, and three of their last five. The 20-10 defeat to Miami marked Pats' fourth loss in six games, after beginning the season 10-0. Jones made up the ground but ran into Chandler before the pass reached its destination.

If they were just trying to get through the day and into the playoffs with their guys no worse off than they were before, then running the ball on third-and-long from start to finish and putting Brady in bubble wrap would have been the play.

The Dolphins enter the field before kickoff.
